The Apayao State College participates in the 2024 Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Annual Convention and General Assembly. The three-day event is held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City from July 15-17 with the theme, “Advancing Competitiveness of SUCs for National Development”.

Convening 113 SUCs across the country, nearly 800 are attending the annual conference including ASC college and campus officials, namely Dr. John N. Cabansag, College President; Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao, College & Board Secretary; Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, VP-ARDES; Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, Academic Dean (Luna Campus); Jemmarie S. Kotoken, VP-AFS; Brendalyn U. Fernando, Chief Administrative Officer, Joyce P. Hidalgo, Budget Officer; Luningning B. Aribbay, QA Director, and; Herminia L. Danao, HRMO III.

Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President, PASUC and Batangas State University, formally opened the event yesterday.

Hon. Ralph G. Recto, Secretary, Department of Finance, graced the event and shared his invaluable expertise and knowledge on Financing Higher Education Strategies to Ensuring Quality and Sustainability in SUCs Development. He emphasized the efforts of the Philippine government in social protection programs, food security, and infrastructure sustainability in SUCs. Additionally, he challenged all SUCs to accelerate AI development nationwide to ensure students’ readiness for the new economy. Moreover, he noted that health, wellness, and longevity are important in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of communities.

For his part, PASUC President Ronquillo delivered the President’s Report (July 22-present). Topics included Responsibilities Espousing Collaboration, Achieving Success, Governance, & Management; PASUC Welfare & Benefits Program; PASUC Financials (FY 2023); Championing the Cause of SUCs Representatives and Partnerships, Ensuring a more Dynamic SUCs Programs, Activities, and Projects; Pushing the Boundaries for SUCs Development, among others.
